Mile Zero

As with any major life change, the final push to get on the road was nothing short of a race to the finish. Many of our preparations were put on hold due to an unexpectedly white April. Luckily we are fortunate enough to have talented and helpful family members that overhauled our house and put the work into making our little Skamper a home on wheels. Our major hurdles were installing the solar panels, repairing the water system, and at the final hour, getting the camper mounted on the truck. Our last week at home was tightly packed and overwhelmingly chaotic. We had an unending laundry list but also wanted to see our family and close buddies before hitting the road.

Now, here we are, driving away from the place and people that we call home. What lies ahead of us is a combination of rough plans and the freedom of uncertainty. We feel overwhelming gratitude to each person that continuously supported and encouraged us. We wouldn’t have had the courage or strength to do it without you. Words cannot express our love.

First destination: Iowa City, Iowa
